Vanessa Hudgens Talks About the Nude Photos
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Kids, Music, Cable, Gossip,
For a while, Vanessa Hudgens seemed to be the Golden Girl for Disney. Female lead of the mega-successful High School Musical franchise, girlfriend to heartthrob Zac Efron—it seemed Hudgens could do no wrong. Until she did.
Nude photos of the star surfaced, a scandal broke, and break-up rumors abounded. Now, Hudgens is being candid about the revealing shots for the first time.
The young star bared it all (figuratively speaking) to Seventeen magazine, saying the pics were taken for someone she was dating at one time. She called the experience “traumatic,” thanked her fans for their continued support, and expressed desire that others might learn from her mistakes. Hudgens also glowingly reported on boyfriend and co-star Zac Efron, though gossip suggests the pair have a somewhat on-again, off-again affair.

Fans Must Pay to See ‘High School Musical 3’
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Kids, Music, Cable, News,
As I previously mentioned, the bigwigs at Disney opted to boost Vanessa Hudgens’ salary for High School Musical 3. Now we know where that extra money will be coming from: your pocketbooks.
Fans looking forward to the latest musical installment will now have to pay for the experience. That’s right - the movie will be moving from The Disney Channel to the big screen. The entire cast, including a heavily-rewarded Zac Efron, will begin filming the sequel this March.
Although many will be bothered by Disney’s decision to financially exploit HSM-addicted families, here are a few good things parents can take away from this:
- No more parties at your home for another HSM premiere*.
- No more endless viewings of the show thanks to the miracles of Tivo*.
- No more lip-gloss kisses on the plasma TV screen*.
- You can dump the kids off at the theater and not be within earshot of the catchy tunes*.
- You can now force your children to earn the price of a ticket.
- You can know say you were forced to watch the movie with your kids; you could have left the living room before*.
(*This all, of course, only applies until the DVD is released.)

Are Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens Over?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Cable, Gossip, Rumors,
It almost sounds scripted, doesn’t it? Two relatively unknown actors get cast in the leading roles for a Disney TV movie. Wonder of wonders, the movie becomes one of Disney’s biggest hits, spawning a best-selling album, huge ratings, and sequels. For the High School Musical fans out there, it was just the icing on the cake that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens took their on-screen love to a real-life relationship. But now, OK! Magazine says it’s all over - Efron ended the relationship at least a week ago. Friends of the stars, however, say they don’t think it’s all really finished for the budding young couple.

Recap of Vanessa Hudgens Nude Photo Fiasco
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Cable, Talent, Gossip,
Vanessa Hudgens has been getting her fair share (or even more) of media attention lately. That’s what happens when naked photos get “leaked” to the Internet. Something similar worked for Paris Hilton and American Idol’s Antonella Barba (who stole the spotlight not for her singing, but for her photos). Because the photos haven’t hurt, but helped, Hudgens, some of the media is saying it might have all been some sort of master plan instigated by the young star. Disney is trying to reduce press by ordering stars of the High School Musical franchise not to talk to reporters about Hudgens, as Kaycee Stroh refused to comment to reporters at an Emmy party. Gossip says that Hudgens and on- and off-screen boyfriend Zac Efron might not be eager to take part in High School Musical 3 as it is, though Disney has made no announcements about Hudgens in the movie either way. Hudgens is currently being sued by her own lawyer for unpaid attorney fees.

Did Vanessa Hudgens Send Photos to Drake Bell?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Kids, Music, Cable/Satellite, Gossip,
An inside source is now telling People magazine that Vanessa Hudgens’ photo session links way back to another teen idol: Drake Bell, star of Nickelodeon‘s Drake & Josh.
Prior to her current stardom, Hudgens reportedly snapped and emailed several racy photos of herself to the actor. While it’s unclear if the two ever dated in real-life, she did appear in a 2006 episode of his show as his girlfriend. (Of course we all know by now that she is currently dating her High School Musical co-star, Zac Efron).
Bell’s rep claims that Drake never received those photos…though I’m sure he has by now.

HSM’s Monique Coleman Let Off Easy On ‘The View’
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Daytime, Kids, Music, Talk Shows, ABC, Cable, Gossip,
I seriously hope that today’s episode of The View was taped like 3 days ago—because there is absolutely no reason why the Vanessa Hudgens issue should not have been addressed. Today’s guest was High School Musical star Monique Coleman. Needless to say, I made a concerted effort to watch hoping she would (awkwardly) say something on her co-star’s behalf. But despite two, TWO, ripe opportunities for them to segue into the controversy, not one host—not even the blunt Joy Behar—brought the subject up.
When first asked why HSM is such a huge hit with fans, Coleman said “I think that’s it’s a positive message that fills a void. There are so many girls that are doing ridiculous things in this industry right now that to see someone that is wholesome and doing something that’s good….parents can stand behind it, kids can watch it. And you’ve got cute kids that are doing good things.” Seriously, how could someone not make a crack on at least the
wholesomepart?
Then when asked if there would be an HSM3, Monique claimed all six co-stars would all be ‘absolutely interested’ but that it was just basically a matter of seeing if they could get all of them back together to do it again. Uhh—how about the fact that maybe Disney might not
wantsome of you guys to come back again now??
NOTE TO SELF: ‘The View’ is owned by Disney. You shouldn’t have wasted your time expecting anything more…

Is Disney’s Musical Efron Headed for Fame?
Disney has discovered their fair share of teen culture phenomena. To be honest, Disney has created their fare share of teen culture. From child stars-turned-superstars like Lindsay Lohan to Shia LaBeouf, Disney can make and break careers. For the young, Disney becomes a fabulous opportunity – or a dead-end. For others, like Tim Allen, their careers just might end in Disney movie mania. So, what’s the next step for Zac Efron, the teen star of Disney’s huge High School Musical franchise? The 19-year-old star rocketed to nationwide fame through the efforts of one made-for-TV-movie that was made to become the next big thing for every female teenager in the country. The fad can no longer be denied now that Disney’s second effort, High School Musical 2, earned a cool $33 million in its opening weekend alone. And though the original Musical has aired twenty-four times on the Disney channel, it’s still getting at least 5 million viewers each and every time. Those are ratings that simply can’t be denied.

‘High School Musical’ Dancing Special
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Kids, Music, Specials, Cable,
I’m going to take a wild guess and say that most of the die-hard fans of High School Musical 2 have already seen the film a thousand times thanks to their DVR. So every line, lyric and nuance have been dissected at this point.
But for those who just can’t get enough, The Disney Channel will be airing a dance-along version of the movie next month. So if you’ve been scratching your head trying to figure out some of those choreographed 8-counts, Zac Efron (along with the other cast members) will be on hand to help provide instruction for several of the musical’s numbers.
Be sure to set your Tivo now for September 8th.

Disney’s Musical Scores Big
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Cable, Ratings,
It would be almost impossible to count the number of TV movies the Disney Channel has premiered. From Halloweentown to Surf Girls, Disney knows how to appeal to the tween and teen set. But even this huge, money-making cable channel couldn’t predict the runaway success of High School Musical, which drew more than 6 million viewers the second time it aired. The soundtrack became a number one album, and the DVD sales went through the roof. Disney did what any cable network would have done – they ordered a sequel.
High School Musical 2 dominated Disney all weekend, airing on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. And this time, Disney’s original movie set a viewership record. No less than 17.24 million viewers tuned in to see the sequel of the much-loved musical flick. Seventeen million – those numbers are even better than last season’s American Idol, the number one network show. With this amount of watchers, Disney’s movie became the most-watched cable broadcast of all time. The original Musical has already been viewed by more than 200 million in 100 different countries.
On Saturday, I decided to see what all this hype was about. I went to the video store and rented their only remaining copy of High School Musical, then sat down on my couch to find out what all the fuss is about. I was prepared to keep my nose turned up. After all, it’s just another Disney movie, right?
